The Winter session has begun. I’m very confident that I’m pretty much at the top of my form as a cartooning instructor. Each week, the children will come up with a page of comic book art using story prompts that I give them, done on pre-paneled paper. The first class, the story is a suspense story. Given to me as an idea for a writing class by science fiction and mystery writer Ron Goulart, the premise is to discover what’s inside of a box. I linked this with a piece by Mike Wierengo from the Wizard Entertainment book How to Draw:Storytelling. The result is a simple piece in which the kids draw a six panel reaction to a mystery item emerging from a box.
